OUR PRODUCTION
Over the years, the Vivaio Sanfilippo has grown and has increasingly specialized in the sale of pistachio plants, a rich and sought-after plant in the area. Thanks to our experience and reliable team we are able to guarantee our customers the utmost seriousness, professionalism and product quality
GRAFTED PLANTS
The grafted plant (Pistacia vera) has a biennial production, in fact in the years of discharge (even years) the shoots are removed by hand. The male of the plant lives spontaneously and only one manages to cover a very large area, in the local dialect it is called "sconnabeccu" or "sarvaggiu" (wild).
The pistachio plant multiplies by grafting onto the spontaneous terebinth and this is the only way to cultivate it in natural pistachio groves which are the majority of existing pistachio groves in Italy.
Instead, in artificial pistachio groves it is grafted onto pistachio or terebinth seedlings sown in nurseries and raised up to two or three years in pots.
After this period they are planted at a distance of 5-7 meters from each other and grafted with scion or budding in May or June.
PISTACIA TEREBINTHUS
Terebinth (Scientific name: Pistacia terebinthus) or Terebinth (English name) is a common plant, is part of the Anacardiaceae family and originates in Europe (Mediterranean areas).
The Pistacia terebinthus plant grows in woods, at altitudes ranging between 0 and 900 meters above sea level. The plant flowers in the period between the months of April and June and has presumed medicinal properties, among the main ones: cytostatics.
This tree has deciduous leaves and its height reaches m. 9. Perfumed flowers, dioecious. Pollination occurs by wind. Leaves without stipules. Stone fruit.
UCB1 PLANTS
The Pistacia UCB1 pistachio rootstock is a hybrid of Pistacia atlantica: this particular type of rootstock was selected by the University of California. Its greatest characteristic consists precisely in the fact that it is an incredibly resistant rootstock to diseases, especially to Phytophtora and nematodes and at the same time, given its characteristics, it appears to be incredibly resistant in saline soils as well as in cold climates: this explains why you need to pay close attention to the geographical area in which you are located; moreover, it also has good vigor. The main objective for which the Pistacia UCB1 pistachio rootstock is used is precisely to increase the production activity of the pistachio crop as much as possible.
Thanks to its ability to increase the pistachio crop, it is the ideal solution for all those who have large crops or need an efficient rootstock.
